We had a blast engaging 5th graders from John B Stenson School in our anti-bullying program "Steps to Respect". All of the children participated in a script writing contest exercising what they learned the program. The winning script was made into a video to build awareness around how other children can handle bullies.
Watch their video today! Stop and Think is a song from our friends at the Mendez Foundation. Although it’s meant for a younger audience, the 7th graders at St Pio Elementary loved the song so much that they wanted to make a music video for it.

What a better way to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week than to have our children from Visitation BVM make videos to promote this wonderful initiative to their peers and the world. Our 7th graders came up with the ideas themselves as part of a leadership group and then we helped them bring their ideas to life through by making these thoughtful videos. Watch our kids Random Acts of Kindness Videos Today! Since the beginning of the pandemic, Shalom Inc has proven it’s willingness to adapt. We quickly responded to the shutdowns with a mix of remote instruction and pre-recorded lessons. We are currently providing our services in the safest and most effective manner for everyone involved.
We have the ability to tailor our services to the needs of our schools, whether we teach in person, remotely or any combination of the two. Not only have we continued to work with our existing schools, we’ve even taken on new schools in the past year! We are currently working on producing a podcast with our student leadership groups throughout the city. Students will have a chance to express their thoughts on a variety of topics related to Prevention Education.
We are piloting the program with 5th grade students from West Oak Lane Charter School as well as students from Roxborough High. This creative project will give students a platform to speak about what is important to them. We are in the process of piloting a city-wide anti-bullying comic book contest. We’re teaming up with local illustrators and vendors (TBA) to create a unique experience that will spread a positive message and promote creativity.
The concept of the contest is simple. Students will work in groups to create an anti-bullying comic book. Their finished stories will be judged by a panel of impartial peers and a winner will be chosen. Winning groups will be teamed up with a local illustrator to have their stories turned into professional comic books. Learn more about the contest HERE: https://vimeo.com/649129683 |
